Update on Offer to Purchase Building
“What happened with the building? Did we get it or no? TELL US!!!” Here’s the update you’ve all been waiting for – the latest on our attempt to purchase a building for God’s sanctuary in Arlington.
1) We officially made an offer (YAY...EXCITING!!!!!).
We submitted our offer on Friday, September 26.
2) They rejected that offer (ewwww.....not so exciting).
But this wasn’t a huge shock to us; we somewhat expected it. But our goal was to begin the negotiation process.
They told us that they would give us two weeks - till October 10 - to make another offer and that it needed to be much closer to the asking price of $5 million. They said that if our next offer isn’t to their liking, they will strongly consider taking the building off the market and redeveloping it themselves (yikes!).
3) We contacted them on Friday (Oct 10) and told them that we are ready to submit a second offer and we will do so by this Friday (Oct 17).
Our goal was to buy some more time so that we could continue to raise funds and thereby make the most attractive offer possible. Our goal from the start has been to raise enough money up front so that we could purchase the building without jeopardizing the long-term financial health of the church. We feel that this is critical in order to be responsible stewards of the resources God has given us.
So with all that said, the main message of this update is…THERE’S STILL TIME!!!
There’s still time to raise more funds and collect more donations. There’s still time to leave a lasting legacy by having your name written in the BOOK OF STSA. There's still time to pass the same message along to your aunts and uncles, your grandmas and grandpas, your friends and family members...anyone you know who has been touched and impacted by the ministry here.
THERE’S STILL TIME!!!
Most importantly, there's still time to pray (and fast). We're asking God to open the hearts of the building owners and give us grace in their eyes. We're asking Him to stir the hearts of those whom He has called to provide for this building; those whom He wants to bless in a special way through giving to this project.
And most of all, we're asking God to continue to BUILD HIS KINGDOM! In whatever way and by whatever means He sees fit. Our goal isn't just this building; our goal is His Kingdom.
From our end, we will continue to pursue this building wholeheartedly – not because we want it, but because GOD WANTS IT (watch this video in case you don’t believe me). God has made His will for us clear. Now it's up to all of us to do whatever we can to fulfill His promise/command:
“Consider now, for the Lord has chosen you to build a house for the sanctuary; BE STRONG AND DO IT.” (1 Chronicles 28:10)
