Nothing’s better than dreams. Not the kind of dreams that come when we’re asleep (even though those are great too). No, I’m talking about the kind of dreams we have when we’re fully awake – the dreams about what we want our lives to look like and where we’re headed.
Some dream of graduating Harvard Law school one day, while others dream of discovering the cure for cancer. Some dream of making it on Broadway, while others dream of making it to the NBA.
Dreams dreams dreams. We all have dreams. And let’s be honest. WE LOVE OUR DREAMS! A life without a dream isn’t much is it? Dreams are what keep us going. They push us to fight through obstacles and barriers. Without them, life can be boring and quite difficult. Agree?
Now let’s shift gears. As great as our dreams are for our own lives, how about for our children? Parents, answer me this question: do you dream greater things for yourselves or for your children?
This isn’t even close for me. There’s no doubt that I have dreams for my life – but those dreams pale in comparison of what I want for my kids. Sky’s the limit for what I want in their lives! No matter what I want for myself, I always want more for more kids. Right parents?
God is no different. As a Father, He has dreams for your life. Big dreams! Extraordinary dreams! Super-sized dreams that would make your head spin if you ever had the ability to comprehend them.
“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” 1 Corinthians 2:9
Are you living the kind of life that God dreams about? This verse isn’t just about heaven; it’s about here and now. It’s about the life God wants to give His children here on earth – a rich and glorious life, full of power, victory and joy.
Too many Christians believe that God’s plan for their life is just pain, misery and hardship. Those might be parts of the plan, but rest assured that those are just steps along the path to God’s glory in your life. As a child of God, He has big dreams for you – extraordinary plans for your life, filled with His glory and His riches – all waiting for those who give themselves over to Him.
Just as our Lord Jesus Christ lived a glorious life on this earth – one full of signs and wonders, full of power and victory – He has even bigger dreams for His children. As He says “he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do” (John 14:12).
For discussion: Are you living that life? If not, what are you going to do about it?
