Christ is risen! Happy Easter out there to the many Orthodox Christians who celebrated the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ this past weekend. Now that the Holy Pascha week has passed and Easter is here, I am back online and will resume my regular blog posts tomorrow morning.
But in the meantime, I wanted to let everyone know that we’ve set the launch date for St. Timothy & St. Athanasius church! The long wait is finally over and we are ready to launch. God willing, we will be celebrating our inaugural service on April 28, 2012. The first service will be on a Saturday to allow for the presence of many guests – including His Grace Bishop David and several other clergy members from around the country – and then we will continue with Sunday services every weekend thereafter.
The service will take place at St. George Episcopal church in Arlington, VA. We’ll begin at 8:30 am and then we’ll follow the service with a lunch reception and a brief presentation on the history, mission, vision, and purpose of the church. You can check us out on Facebook or on our website for more details.
Truly this is the day that the Lord has made. I can’t tell you how excited I am for the launch of this new church. I believe God is going to do a great work through this church – both in the DC area and around the country – and I invite you to join us for the start of something very special.
For more information about the church and the inspiration behind it, check out this blog post that I wrote 2 months ago.
DISCUSSION: Let’s dream big! What dreams do you have for the Church in America (or whatever country you live in) and what steps could be taken to achieve those dreams?
