What is the future of Orthodoxy in America? Specifically the Coptic Orthodox tradition?
According to His Grace Bishop Youssef of the Diocese of the Southern United States, the future is bright! In this 8 minute audio clip, Bishop Youssef speaks about his vision for the Church in the coming years. He speaks about the importance of communicating our Orthodox faith in a manner that is adapted for the American culture in which we live. He speaks of the need to develop "an American Orthodox spirituality" - one that is distinctly Orthodox in its doctrine, yet American in its culture.
And most relevantly to many of you, he also speaks about his plans to open several American Coptic Orthodox churches throughout his diocese in the coming years.
EXCITING NEWS!!! Exciting both for those living within the Diocese of the Southern U.S. (congrats to you all!) and also for every one of us who desires to see the beauty of Orthodoxy unencumbered by the limitations so often set upon it by ethnic culture. SO CONGRATS TO ALL!
I apologize because much of the video is in Arabic (ironic, I know) but that's because the audience was a group of Egyptian-Americans who understood both English and Arabic. My apologies in advance.
